BOILED PEANUTS ANYONE?

You can't go to Georgia and not eat boiled peanuts. They were my daddy's favorite snack. On our way to Henderson, we stopped at a road side market and got some hot, fresh,boiled peanuts, some peaches, and tomatoes. I called my mama on the phone and told her to guess what I was doing, of course she couldn't, told her I was riding in the Georgia hills eating boiled peanuts. She just had to laugh. :) It's hard to find places like that, that you can park a big truck. There was another place we stopped at too, just north of Albany, Stripling's General Store, it has a web site...www.striplings.com they have some great gift baskets. We had one sent to our daughter, Kellly for her birthday, which is tomorrow, Happy,Happy Birthday my Kelly girl, we love you!!!

Then we stopped at a truckstop in Dunn, NC for breakfast, where a friend of Ricky's lives, and had him come visit with us for a quick bite. After a nice visit, off we went to deliver our load, at a Rose's distribution center, didn't know there were any of those stores still open, and we were off again. Off to Charlotte, NC to pick up a load to Oklahoma City. After we loaded, Ricky's hours were up and we had to stay there for 10 hours to pick up more time to run on. We decided to walk to a Chinese restaurant about a mile away and have supper, it was alright, not really worth the walk for the food, but we had fun taking the walk together. Sleeping in the lot of the business had it's plus..no other trucks..so it was a good quiet night. We got orders to bring this load into West Memphis instead of going on to OK, driving up through the north part of NC was beautiful, we drove close to Sylva,NC, and that's where Ricky's brother lives. He gave Pete a call and said hello, told him we'd stop for a visit another time, had to get on our way this time. We were hoping to come on home from there, but it seems we will have a bit of a run around first. We got a relay in TN to take to Pocahontas,IL and now we will be leaving in the morning taking a delivery from here to Ottawa,KS . Keeping our fingers crossed that then we'll be on our way home for a couple of days.

I guess I'll shut 'er down for the night, Ricky said we'll be leaving about 2 in the morning and it's almos 7:30 now....gezzzzz.....sometimes the nights aren't long enough!!!!! till next time....live your dream....time goes by quickly!!!!

TIME FOR A CHANGE?

How about a new author? Ricky is trying me out as the new story teller. I hope I don't let him down. I have been out with him now for almost 3 months, when he left off last we were in Chicago. The delivery went really well for the location. We had a great view of the Sears Tower from where we were. I am so proud of Ricky being able to dock this big truck and trailer. Some builders really need to sit in a truck drivers seat before they design a dock. If a company's focus is on safety and having no accidents then room in a docking area should be a priority.
Oh well...no more ranting..by the way, they have big rats in Chicago..in the dirt between the sidewalks and the street were some big holes, Ricky took Paco to pottie and saw rats as big as the dog stick heads out. When we have a better connection I'll have Ricky post those pictures he promised. I'm not a great picture taker, but I try.

Well, let's see..we left Chicago for South Bend, IN. and then to Chattanooga, TN, and New Johnsonville, TN, and Laredo, TX, and Hammer, SC, which was fun, we had a day off and spent it there at a place called South of the Border, we plan to take the grand kids there one day, I wanted to play mini golf, but they didn't have the park open yet. So, a few souvenirs for the kids and on our way again to Statesville, NC, and Bensalem, PA, and York, PA, and Sparta, MI, and Muskegan, MI, and Taylor, MI, and Girard, OH, and then to Columbus, OH, for a day off at our daughter, Kelly's, house. This was our first trip to where she lives since she moved from Missouri. She took us shopping and out to eat and then to her favorite ice cream shop for a treat. We drove down the highway by where she works, on our way to the yard where we left the truck, and Ricky was talking to her on the phone, and when we got to where she was, she got to the window and saw us go by in the truck, it was so cool, she was just a laughing, and saying, I see you...We miss her a lot since she moved, but we are so proud of her and her accomplishments.

O.K. so, from there we go to Delaware, OH, and Smyrna, DE, and then, oh no, Staten Island, NY, apprehensive and hopeful for a easy trip in, off we go, and thank goodness it's Sunday, and the traffic was perfect, not to busy!! Got to see the Empire State Building again from way off as we left out for Valparaiso, IN, and that was fine with me..then on to Kout, IN, and Delano, PA, and Green, NY, and Brownsburg, IN, and Pocahontas, IL, and then a perfect run..Springfield, MO, for a layover delivery, on Mother's Day weekend, We parked close enough to our house, that we walked home. We got to surprise our kids and grandkids and I had a perfect Mother's Day!!!!
O.K. so off we go again....to Joplin, Mo, and Lamar, MO, and lo and behold.. to Brookhaven, MS, got to see my mama {hee,hee} had her to come to the truckstop and we had breakfast together and I stayed and visited with her while Ricky made his delivery. See more of my family now then I did for a long time. Wasn't a long visit ,but was a good one, any time I can get a hug from my mama!!

Now, let's see, off to Columbus, MS, and then to Brownsville, TX, wow, what a good run. Got to see where all the Snow Birds go, not much of a view on the way down, kinda repetitious, a lot warmer than where we have been for a while though- thank goodness. Then to Jacksonville, FL, that was some nice sights.Had been about 11 or 12 years since I had been there, our oldest son, Daniel, was stationed at Cecil Field, just out of Jacksonville, and I went to see him before he left on his first 6 month cruise on the USS Enterprise. He was in the Navy for 10 years, and now lives in Texas.

Sooooo, let's see, this is almost over...I promise....then to Lee, FL, and Columbus, GA, and Albany, GA, and now on our way to Henderson, NC, We've had a nice rest today waiting for our hours to refresh. We are having a great time together, feels like we are on a long camping trip sometimes. We have always spent most of our time together, he worked 7 off and 7 home for years in the oilfield, and we owned a business for years, where we were together 24/7 and now we are back 24/7 and haven't tried to kill each other yet, so we are meant to be together.

I hope I haven't bored you to death yet. I hope to get better at this with practice. I'm open to suggestions...until next time.{ hopefully, I will update quicker, nooooo promises}
